NAC Breda fans in Etihad Stadium protest against City Football Group buying the club

NAC Breda fans are protesting against the City Football Group buying taking over their club.

A banner from their supporters' group Breda Loco's was hung outside the Etihad Stadium showing their opposition to the club becoming an affiliate team to Manchester City. The banner read: "Stay out of our territory, NAC is not a City Group story."

The Breda Loco's group added on Facebook : "City group tries to take over the football world from Manchester. Funded by a sheikh with oil dollars from a country with a dubious view on human rights.

"Troyes and Lommel have already fallen, but we'll never get them. Today we went to the stadiums of Manchester, Troyes and Lommel to make it clear that Breda will not be allowed in.

"We keep fighting. Stay out of our territory, NAC is not a city group story."

Alongside Troyes and Lommel, New York City, Melbourne City, Girona and Mumbai City are all part of the City Football Group.

NAC Breda's official website appeared to confirm the deal last week. In a statement, the club said: "We recently conducted an investigation at the request of shareholders into the initiatives of City Football Group and a combination between Global Football Corporation and Karel Vrolijk.

"We assessed these parties on the basis of the criteria set by the Supervisory Board, NOAD Foundation and the KNVB. We presented the results of our investigation to the shareholders. On that basis, they have chosen to sell their shares to City Football Group."

The Manchester Evening News has contacted City for a comment on the sale and are awaiting a response. NAC Breda currently sit mid-table in the Dutch second tier.
