Naby Keita sends Liverpool message after stepping up injury return before Everton

Naby Keita is "happy to be back on the pitch" as Liverpool get set to face Everton at Anfield.

The Reds midfielder is yet to play this calendar year but will offer Jurgen Klopp's side something different from the engine room should the manager allow him a return to action on Saturday.

The Guinea international has been pictured working alongside his teammates at the AXA Training Centre this week, smiling as he takes part.

"Happy to be back on the pitch with a big smile on my face," he wrote on Instagram.

"Let's get back to work with the lads".

It remains to be seen if Keita will be involved against the Blues this weekend and any impact from the 26-year-old is more likely to come from the substitute bench.

"He is no longer injured but he is not fit," Klopp said Keita on Monday.

"These injuries were minor things but kicked him out of the team but he has an excellent perspective.

"He is a great player. And when these injuries are behind him, we will have a great player."
