Naby Keita explains why Liverpool FC will not watch Man City play Crystal Palace

Liverpool will not be distracted by Manchester City's trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday ahead of the Reds' game against Chelsea at Anfield later that day, according to midfielder Naby Keita.

City will go a point clear of the Reds with a win at Selhurst Park to continue the yoyo-ing between the Blues and Liverpool at the Premier League's summit.

Pep Guardiola's side have a game in hand over Liverpool as City look to retain the league title for the first time in the history.

Jurgen Klopp's side's game against Chelsea is almost a carbon copy of the 2014 fixture in which Steven Gerrard's slip for Demba Ba to score all but gifted City the league crown.

But Keita says Liverpool are focused on the task at hand and will let nothing disturb their preparation.

“No, we won’t be watching Manchester City – we will just try to concentrate on our match ahead," the 24-year-old told liverpoolfc.com.

Roy Hodgson issues Man City warning ahead of Crystal Palace trip

Man City can solve problem position with audacious Barcelona swoop

"We will look at the numbers at the end of the season. That’s it.

"As the coach tells us every day, we have to concentrate on what we’re facing next, the match that is in front of us. You concentrate, you play, you try to win and we will see at the end of the season."

Liverpool have put a run of four draws in six games behind them with four consecutive league victories ahead of the visit of Maurizio Sarri's side.

But Keita is wary of the threat that Chelsea pose to that record.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino gives Harry Kane injury update ahead of Man City fixtures

"Chelsea won’t be an easy match," he explained. "They are a team that will be coming looking for victory at our home ground.

"But since we are playing at home we will have the fans there supporting us.

"Chelsea are a big team, a good team, a team that plays good football and a team that are in form, but we’re playing at home – and we’ll do everything we can to win this game. It won’t be easy, but we will try everything we can in order to try to win."
