N'Golo Kante transfer: PSG determined to sign Chelsea star this summer

Paris St Germain want N'Golo Kante this summer.

The big-hitting French club have set their sights on prising the midfielder out of Chelsea as they ramp up their European ambitions.

Kante, who has two titles and World Cup winner's medal to his name, is top of the PSG list after they shelved an interest in Everton's Idrissa Gueye .

They have turned their attentions instead to the 28-year-old dynamo who is at the very peak of his powers.

Chelsea will not want to lose Kante.

But this move will be the player's last big pay-day and the contract on offer at a club which, like Manchester City , is fuelled by petro-dollars, is likely to be too big to ignore.

PSG had originally seen Gueye as the man that they want to carry them forward.

But Everton do not have to sell and have no intention of letting the player leave Goodison Park.

That has forced PSG to re-set their sights on Kante. But it remains to be seen if the west London club can resist the up-coming tug-of-war for him.

With the prospect of losing Eden Hazard to Real Madrid on the horizon, Chelsea can ill-afford to lose another cornerstone of their side.

And if the French club are unsuccessful with Kante, they will turn their attention instead to Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure .

The midfield powerhouse has been at the heart of everything good about the Hornets during the past couple of seasons.

He was rewarded with a five-year contract just 12 months ago in recognition of his efforts – and that sent a clear message that the Pozzo family want him to stay at Vicarage Road.

But the money on offer will be considerable and offer a huge upside on the £6m paid to Rennes for the midfielder three years ago.
