N'Golo Kante returns to full contact Chelsea training in boost for Frank Lampard

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante is back in full-contact training for the Blues and should be available for selection for their game against Aston Villa on June 21.

The 29-year-old had been worried about returning amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, and initially chose not to train as a result, with the club allowing him to keep fit at home instead.

However, he appears to have changed his mind, and was seen engaging in full-contact training with teammates on Tuesday.

The news will come as a big boost to manager Frank Lampard, with his side set to continue their push to finish in the top four when their season resumes.

The Blues currently sit just three points above Manchester United with nine matches remaining, and it will be a big relief if, as expected, they are now able to count on Kante for the rest of the campaign.

The former Leicester man has made 18 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring three times, and he continues to be an important member of the first-team.

He recently spoke out about the challenges he has faced in becoming a professional footballer as part of a video series named 'Breaking Barriers', presented by Chelsea FC and Sure.

Kante said: "I didn't always believe that I would become a professional footballer," said the Frenchman.

"When I was younger I played in the lower leagues, I failed quite a few trials at professional clubs.

"When I failed I watched the players in those academies and went home and told myself there was a lot of work to do," he continues.

"I worked twice as hard to keep up the hard work and maybe one day it would happen.

"I think those failures allowed me to build myself to become a professional player."
