N'Golo Kante makes bold claim over Chelsea's Europa League expectations

N'Golo Kante insists that Chelsea are not the favourites to win the Europa League despite reaching the semi-final last night.

The Blues made hard work of dispatching Slavia Prague with a 5-4 aggregate score in the last eight, and will take on German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the penultimate round of the competition.

Arsenal and Valencia are the other two teams battling it out for a place in the final in Baku, Azerbaijan, next month in what could well be a shootout for next season's Champions League place.

Chelsea have been the main team in the second tier of European football this season and have been backed by many to lift the trophy.

However, the France World up winner believes winning the competition would be 'beautiful' but that Chelsea are not the team to beat.

"We’re not favourites," Kante said. "We played a good match tonight and we will do all we can to get to the final. But we’re not favourites.

"It was important for us to win this game. I think it’s important to be in the semi-finals, it was our target.

"We played a good game, it was difficult in the second-half but we got what we wanted and we are happy for that.

"I think they worked very well, they tried to push more and scored two beautiful goals.

"And after that we managed to hold on to keep the win.

"We can make the season beautiful by winning the Europa League.

"That’s the only title we can win now, so it would be great to win the Europa League."
