N Brown appoints new chief brand officer

Missguided’s former chief customer officer Kenyatte Nelson has joined retailer N Brown as chief brand officer.

Kenyatte, who will report directly into CEO Steve Johnson, will be in charge of strengthening the company’s brands which include Simply Be, JD Williams and Jacamo.

Kenyatte has significant experience across the consumer and retail sectors including with P&G, Shop Direct Group as group marketing & creative director and most recently with Missguided.

CEO Steve Johnson said: “I am delighted to be welcoming Kenyatte to N Brown and I look forward to working with him as we deliver our digital, retail-led, customer centric strategy.”

Manchester-headquartered N Brown has been undergoing a major restructuring as it becomes an online-only retailer.

It has closed all its 20 stores and is focusing on its digital proposition.

Earlier this month the company reported its financial results for the year to March 2 revealing pre-tax loss of £57.5m compared to a profit before tax of £16.2m.

Excluding items, adjusted pre-tax profit rose 2.5 per cent to £83.6mln as operating costs edged down 4.5 per cent to £369.7m.

The group said digital sales now account for 80 per cent of product revenue.

Total revenue dipped 0.8 per cent to £914.4m, with product revenue down 5.6 per cent to £615.8m and financial services revenue up 10.8 per cent to £298.6m.
