MYSURU: After a gap of two years, Pratibha Karanji, the annual cultural and literary competitions are back in district schools.
A school-level training programme started to pick the best of the talents. The competitions are to be held at the state level. Meanwhile, in many hoblis, sports competitions are already completed and students participated with enthusiasm.
As per the directions issued by the department, cluster level competitions should be completed by August-end while block level competitions are to be held in September. In November, district-level competitions are to be held. State-level competitions will be conducted in December. Funds have been released for these competitions by the state government and Mysuru district has been allocated Rs. 9.83 lakh.
“The preparations have already stated at the school level. Various committees have been formed from school to district level for the successful implementation of Pratibha Karanji,” said Mysuru DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs.
According to schoolteachers, at the school level, students are now being trained in various activities including individual and group competitions. “Many group competitions like drama have been removed from the list of competitions. Students are happy to prepare for these competitions which will provide them a platform to show their skills,” said a high school teacher.
Teachers are busy preparing their students for various competitions as they had not engaged in any extracurricular activities for two years due to Covid-19. “Students are showing interest in all types of cultural activities. These extracurricular activities make the students’ active beside helping them develop a good personality and character. Their active participation in these activities is a surprise for all of us,” said Satish Jawaregowda from Mellahalli government higher primary school.
