MYSURU: In the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mysuru, the city police are on high alert. City police commissioner Chandragupta on Friday directed police personnel to be vigilant and respond to complaints from aggrieved parties promptly.
During the weekly marchpast at City Armed Reserved Grounds on Friday, police commissioner asked the officers to be alert. Tourist movements have increased, and officers need to be attentive. The top cop asked the men to respond to every complaint with gravity.
Modi will arrive in Mysuru on June 20 and stay overnight at a private hotel and participate in yoga day fete at the Mysuru Palace on June 21. He would leave Mysuru soon after participation.
Ahead of Modi’s visit to the city security is being tightened in Mysuru city and special protection group officers to are monitoring the security arrangement.
Appreciation certificate
Police commissioner Chandragupta, on the occasion, presented an appreciation certificate to college student Sowmya Srikanth for her bravery that led to the arrest of four chain snatchers including two women.
Chandragupta said Sowmya exhibited courage after she was robbed of her gold chain. She gave the chain snatcher a brief chase and then held him with the support of passers-by. The chain snatcher jumped into the car after robbing her gold chain in January. The college student chased him and locked the steering wheel with her hand.
