MYSURU: The number of people flying between Mysuru and Hyderabad has been steadily rising over the past few months, with the ticket sales touching numbers registered prior to the outbreak of Covid-19 nearly two years ago.
It is being predicted that growing demand for more flights between the two cities may prompt the authorities at Mysuru Airport to start operating flights between the Heritage City and Hyderabad daily.
Mysuru Airport Authority director R Manjunath confirmed to TOI that number of people flying to Hyderabad was on the rise. “The number of people flying between the two cities is almost back to what it was prior to the Covid outbreak,” Manjunath said.
The airport director said that the flights between the two cities were being operated four to five days a week. Manjunath said that traffic on the route was witnessing an uptick in the wake of a drastic drop in the number of Covid-19 cases.
Another official at the airport said that there were no queries from passengers about the schedule. “Flights to Hyderabad are operated after dusk, and passengers appear to have no problem with the timing. If there are demands to operate the flight at a specific time, we will consider them,” he said.
Karnataka Tourism Forum representative BS Prashanth said, “Owing to Hyderabad being a hub of many IT companies, there has always been movement of people between Mysuru and the Telangana capital. While many tourists use flights, there are a large number of people flying for business.”
