Mystery surrounds woman found with serious facial injuries inside vacant house in Adelaide

Police believe the woman's injuries may be linked to a crash at Lockleys on Monday.

Police are investigating the cause of a woman's serious injuries which they believe may be linked to a car crash in Adelaide's west on Monday night.

The woman had to undergo emergency surgery after being found with facial injuries inside a vacant house in Adelaide's north-west overnight, police say.

Ambulance crews and police were called to the vacant house on Hanson Road at Athol Park just after 2:00am today following reports of a woman with facial injuries and other multiple injuries.

They said the 45-year-old woman was treated at the scene and rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.

Police said a male friend of the woman called emergency services and was speaking with police regarding the incident.

Police said the injuries were possibly linked to a car which crashed into a denture clinic earlier this week.

"The woman's injuries are possibly linked to a car crash that occurred at Lockleys late on Monday night, where a car collided with a building," police said.

Police conducted a search for the driver of a silver Commodore after the car had crashed into the denture clinic about 10:30pm on Monday.

Woman seen with blood on her face

The crash took out a pole and smashed the front window of the shop at the intersection of Douglas Street and Henley Beach Road.

Police said witnesses reported seeing a woman with blood on her face exiting the vehicle and running from the scene.

The vehicle was removed from the clinic and towed to a police compound to be forensically examined.

Police are continuing investigations into the incident and crime scene examiners remain on the scene at Athol Park.

Anyone with information on the woman or the incident has been asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
