Mystery surrounds the closure of quirky Sherwood restaurant

Food lovers have been left wondering whether a popular Sherwood restaurant will re-open.

Quirky Spanish tapas bar Barrio closed earlier this month.

The intimate cash-only restaurant, in Mansfield Road, had always been incognito with no signage, website, phone number or online menu, but it never struggled for customers, even during the week.

Those in the know headed there for paella, patatas bravas, sticky chicken, churros and other authentic dishes that stayed true to the classic flavour.

When the restaurant first closed a few weeks ago a sign in the window blamed personal reasons but now the sign has gone and according to an online listing it could be permanently closed.

One fan said: "It's such a shame if it has shut down. It's was such a quirky place and the food was fabulous."

Another said: "I really hope it hasn't closed for good as it was my favourite place."
