Mystery surrounds sudden closure of Sherwood pub

A Sherwood pub has suddenly closed without explanation - simply blaming "an unforeseen issue."

The Robin Hood, in Mansfield Road, remains closed today (July 10) after yesterday's shut-down.  There's no sign on the locked doors but a message on Facebook says: "Please be aware due to an unforeseen issue the venue is closed for a short time.

"We are working to get this resolved as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience."

One local said: "I haven’t been there for years to be honest. I used to go every week after work but tend to prefer drinking in restaurants now rather than ."

Another said he sometimes goes in The Robin Hood after work. "I don't know how it keeps open because there's only about six people in there.

"The other lads used to go in there but mostly they go to The Sherwood now because it's so cheap."

A manager at the pub refused to comment when Nottinghamshire Live rang.

Greene King owns the property but the pub is run independently under its Pub Partners' scheme. A spokesperson said: "We’re sorry to learn of the temporary closure of the Robin Hood by the pub’s tenant and will now do our best to get the pub back open again for customers as soon as possible."

The pub has karaoke and DJs every Friday night with live music on Saturdays with SheRoKS due to be playing this Saturday.
