Mystery surrounds identity of cyclist rushed to hospital after serious crash on A913 in Fife

Mystery is surrounding the identity of a cyclist who was rushed to hospital after a serious road crash on the A913 in Fife.

The Cupar to Newburgh road was closed for much of yesterday (Thursday) as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene, around half a mile east of the A92 Parbroath crossroads, at around 6.45am following reports of an accident involving the a white Volkswagen Crafter van and a white mountain bike.

The cyclist was found to have sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

However officers are still unsure exactly who he is, and wants anyone who recognises his description to come forward.

Sergeant Nicola Young from the Fife Road Policing Unit said: "The identity of the cyclist remains unknown and we are appealing to the public to help us identify him. He is a white man, around 6ft tall with brown, balding hair. He is possibly aged between 40 and 50 and is of slim to medium build.

"He may have links to the Perth area and anyone with information is asked to contact us quoting incident 462 of 26 September."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
