Mystery surrounds Doctor Who star’s removal from Eurovision coverage

  • Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa will no longer be the UK spokesperson for Eurovision due to what the BBC is calling “unforeseen circumstances”.
  • BBC Radio 2 DJ Sophie Ellis-Bextor will replace Gatwa during the final. The BBC has given no further details on his removal.
  • Gatwa's involvement was initially tied to a Doctor Who episode with a Eurovision theme airing before the finale.
  • The episode, "The Interstellar Song Contest", features Gatwa's Doctor and his companion attending a fictional intergalactic song contest.
  • The Eurovision final will air on BBC One on Saturday, May 17.
