Mystery surrounding decade-old Dublin gig ticket found on London hospital floor

A London man has launched a social media hunt after a decade-old ticket to a Dublin gig was found on the floor of a hospital in London.

James Hilton took to Twitter to post the picture of the Ticketmaster stump for a show at the famous Olympia Theatre on Dame Street.

The show in question was the 2011 Alternative Miss Ireland, an open-for-all beauty pageant event that was held annually as a HIV/AIDS charity fundraiser around St Patrick's Day every year between 1987 and 2012.

"I’d like to know the story of how this ticket ended up in the stairwell of a London hospital today," James wrote, as people flooded the replies with theories.

The majority seemed to agree that the likeliest explanation was that the ticket was being used as a bookmark and may have fallen out accidentally, with one person even posting a picture of them using their own ticket to a show in the Royal Opera House in the same way.

But there were some wilder, wackier theories.

One person suggested: "You have to go to it. It’s like in video games when you get a mystery invite to a special tournament or Hogwarts. Destiny."

Another said: "A time traveler dropped it obvs."

And a third joked: "This could be the opening scene for a crime drama?! A hospital drama?! I’m intrigued!"

Even the former host of the competition, Panti Bliss, laughed: "I traded it for a vaccine! But seriously, how bizarre!"
