Mystery surrounds a space object spotted in the night sky. Onlookers said it moved quickly and appeared to be glowing green and white.
The strange sightings were reported on Easter Monday night. It comes ahead of the Lyrid meteor shower which is due to begin on Friday (April 14) and continue until April 30, peaking on the night of April 22 to 23.
A woman posting on the Dursley Matters Facebook community group saw it over Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire Live reports. Sarah Miles wrote: "I have just seen something in the sky, think it may have been space debris, but was great to see, whatever it was. It was quick, greenish/white glow to it.
"I was standing in the car park at Hunter Hall pub, around the 9pm time.... Don't think it was a shooting star due to the size of it and it wasn't as fast, also not really in the distance. More like overhead. Awesome stuff."
She issued a call for more sightings and information about what it could be. She added that it appeared to have a "tail end to it", saying it looked like it had broken through the earth's atmosphere.
And she wasn't alone in spotting something in the sky. Others said they spotted colours in the sky near the village of Leonard Stanley, around Bristol Airport and in South Wales.
Steph Joynson added: "We saw an ‘orange’ colour light three times around 9pm the other night over Wotton, quite large, silent and moving slowly then vanishing …not as high as the space station but similar movement." And Alys Rose said "I saw one two nights ago! Exactly like you describe and it wasn’t falling as fast as a falling stars. Maybe there’s a small meteor shower?"
