KOTA: Mystery shrouds the death of a 45-year-old woman, mother of a 24-year-old rape accused, who was found dead in her house in Bambuliya Khurd village under Itawa police station of Kota on Friday .
Prima facie, the deceased woman was under depression after her elder son was arrested on charges of raping a girl in neighbourhood last month.
However, the police conducted postmortem by medical board to ascertain actual reason of death and handed over the body to family members later in the day.
The deceased woman was identified as Santrabai Bairwa (45), a resident of Bambuliya Khurd village under Itawa police station of Kota district.
“The woman was found dead in her room on ground floor of her house in Bambuliya Khurd village early on Friday following which her younger son, who was asleep in the room on second floor, informed the police,” said Ramvilas Meena, SHO, Itawa police station.
The body bore light marks over the neck, he added.
In the initial investigation, it was learnt the deceased woman had been under depression after her elder son was arrested last month, he said.
A case under Section 174 of CrPC was lodged in the matter for further investigation, he added.
