'Confidential tenant' agrees to take over new ticket office in Broadmarsh Bus Station

A lease has been agreed for the ticket office within the new Broadmarsh Bus Station.

City Council chiefs have granted a lease on what they've described as a "confidential tenant" in a report.

The new Broadmarsh Car Park, Bus Station and Library includes six retail units and a further two units for bus operators.

The council has now agreed a lease for unit four - a ticket office for a bus operator.

Lease terms have been agreed for what the report describes as the occupation of the "ticket office accommodation".

However, the council said it was unable to confirm at the present time who the lease had been agreed with.

It comes after the authority confirmed terms had been agreed with a retailer to take on another units within the bus station concourse.

In February, Councillor David Mellen, leader of the city council, said: “Our new Broadmarsh development is transformative for the area and will be a real asset to the whole area, complementing the Lace Market and surrounding area and setting a standard for future developments in the city."

Both car park and bus station are expected to open in October.

However, delays mean that Nottingham could be left without a city centre library until at least 2023.

Meanwhile, a new walkway has opened through the former Broadmarsh Shopping Centre - with demolition work now able to properly start on the western section of the old shopping centre through to Maid Marian Way.

The entrances of the new walkway, which include new artwork, have been praised by the public.

The next phase of work is expected to start soon on the creation of a new "public realm" in and around the Broadmarsh area. New amphitheatre steps will be installed.
