Mystery of World's End killer Angus Sinclair's ashes after secret cremation

No one wants the ashes of World’s End killer Angus Sinclair after he was cremated in secret.

The Record approached every authority involved with the 73-year-old sex beast after his death but it is unclear who has responsibility for his remains.

The serial killer died in Glenochil Prison and was Picture exclusive as World's End Killer Angus Sinclair cremated in secret ceremony in Falkirk on Wednesday.

It is understood police registered his death after relatives refused and he has no next of kin.

A source at the Scottish Prison Service claimed that after his death, Sinclair’s affairs became the responsibility of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal’s Service.

But a spokesman for the COPFS told us: “Following a post-mortem on March 15, we authorised the release of Sinclair’s body and notified police. Our responsibilities with regard to the body came to an end at that point.”

Falkirk Council said they were only responsible for running the cremation, which was arranged by Clackmannanshire Council.

A spokeswoman for the Clackmannanshire authority said: “In the event of a National Assistance Act funeral, the council is responsible, and makes decisions on an individual case basis on the grounds of cost and appropriateness.”

Serial child sex abuser Sinclair raped and murdered Christine Eadie and Helen Scott, both 17, in 1977, in what came to be known as the World’s End murders.

Aged 16, he killed seven-year-old Catherine Reehill, and in 1978, he murdered Mary Gallacher, 17.
