Mystery of the blue post box in the city centre is revealed... briefly

The reason why a post box in the city has changed colour from red to blue has been revealed... but only for a short while.

The post box, in Angel Row outside the Bell Inn, was painted blue on May 21.

Royal Mail  refused to comment on the colour change when contacted by Nottinghamshire Live about it.

On Monday (May 27), the mystery was solved when writing appeared on the post box.

The Cricket World Cup logo has now appeared on the side.

It also says: "The highest total ODI score was scored by England at Trent Bridge against Australia 481/6."

However, not long after the writing appeared, the post box was then covered with a sign saying it would be out of service until May 29.

Blue postboxes have been spotted in Nottingham, Chester-le Street, in Durham and Taunton in Somerset, which are all World Cup venues.

Friday, May 31, will see the first of five games being played at Trent Bridge - The West Indies v Pakistan.
