Mystery of home left by A road

A large mobile home has been left on an Ayr layby for more than two weeks.

The lopsided caravan near Dobbies on the A70 appears in good condition with curtains draped on the windows.

The unusual sight has caught the attention of drivers passing on the busy road.

A councillor has voiced concerns about it staying there long term.

Councillor  Derek McCabe said: “I drove past it recently. I hope it has not been abandoned.

“There is enough rubbish lying around the roads.”

Workers were recently repairing the layby.

Kevin Braidwood acting head of roads at the Ayrshire Roads Alliance said: “The lay-by is not within South Ayrshire Council’s title.

"We understand the caravan belongs to the owner and it is they who are carrying out repairs."
