Mystery man from Lanarkshire wins life-changing £10k a month Lotto prize

A mystery man from Lanarkshire is quids in after winning £10,000 a month for a year on the National Lottery.

The lucky man - known only as Mr W -  won the life-changing prize by matching the five main numbers in the Set For Life draw on Monday, July 6.

And who knows, the man could be a resident of the East Kilbride or Strathaven areas.

He celebrated his fantastic win by splashing the cash on a swimming pool for his holiday home.

Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize, just like Mr W  did.

You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery App to check if you're a winner.

The mystery winner chose a birthday selection of numbers to play Set For Life which came up trumps.

He has become one of eight million players that win each week on The National Lottery’s range of games.

Interactive winners have the opportunity to release their name, remain anonymous or like this winner, release some details through partial publicity.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “Huge congratulations to Mr W for winning this fantastic prize. After a few simple clicks he can now look forward to receiving £10,000 every month for a year and enjoy the new pool at his holiday home.”

On the National Lottery website players can buy tickets for all of The National Lottery’s draw-based games including Set For Life, Lotto, EuroMillions and Thunderball.

Once they have registered and set up an account, they can also play a range of online Instant Win Games.

Set For Life is a draw-based game from The National Lottery. You pick five main numbers from 1 to 47, and one ‘Life Ball’ from 1 to 10, for the chance to win fixed prizes – with everything from the top prize of £10,000 a month for 30 years, to the 2nd prize of £10,000 a month for one year to £5 for matching just two main numbers.

Thanks to National Lottery players, up to £600M will be used to support the most vulnerable in communities across the UK during the coronavirus crisis.

Hundreds of millions of pounds will be distributed to charities and local voluntary organisations over the next few months to help support people through the Covid-19 crisis - from helping support food banks, to causes that combat loneliness and isolation, support for the elderly and projects that support health in the community.

Players can check their tickets online at www.national-lottery.co.uk or via the National Lottery App.
