Mystery man found with head injury near Liver Building

A seriously injured man was found lying on The Strand in the early hours of this morning, a stone's throw from the Liver Building.

The Ambulance service took the 42-year-old man to hospital just after 3.20am, after he was discovered near a laser eye surgery, over the road from famous Liverpool landmark .

Merseyside Police detectives are now appealing for information as to what happened to the man, who suffered serious head injuries.

He remains in hospital for treatment. His conditions is described as serious.

At this stage of the investigation, it is unknown how the man came to be injured – it is possible he has fallen or may have been subject to an assault.

CCTV from the area is being sought and the area is being forensically examined.

In a statement Merseyside Police said: "Maybe you were driving past or saw an incident around this time? Any information, no matter how small, could assist us in piecing together what has happened to this man."
