Mystery graffiti appears on bus stops and ticket machine

The word 'avoid' has been spray-painted on bus stops across Bristol by a mystery vandal.

Several stops in Redland, as well as a car parking ticket machine in Archfield Road, have all been targeted with red paint during the past few days.

The motive behind the vandalism is  unknown but it's possible whoever is responsible is attempting to prevent people from travelling unneccesarily.

On one of the bus stops, the letters 'HRC' have also been spray painted next to the word 'avoid'.

The mystery vandal's actions come just as a First Bus driver on a service between Bath and Bristol tested positive for coronavirus.

The company's boss James Freeman says First was alerted by a customer and this led to the driver testing positive for coronavirus.

Everyone who has come into contact with the bus driver is being tested for the virus, First says.

Mr Freeman said: “We can confirm that a driver on a bus service between Bath and Bristol has tested positive for Covid-19 whilst displaying no symptoms and is now self-isolating."
