Other people and neighbours said they also heard the noise and described is a "loud bang" and others like an "explosion."

One person said: "Didn't sound like fireworks."

Another added: "They woke me up was definitely explosion not fireworks."

A third person also said: "I am in Woolton and woke me up too."

Residents described as the "bangs" being "huge" and that people could hear them across the area and even through headphones.

People tried to figure out what the noise was, with some suggesting it coming from Network Rail or the Jaguar Land Rover site.

However, some residents said they saw fireworks around the time people reported hearing the noise and there were "three flashes."

One person suggested due to the noise being so loud it could possibly be an "onion bomb firework".

These fireworks are a highly explosive and used for displays which is not legally on sale to the general public.

People were said they were annoyed at the time in which the fireworks were let off and the people had "no care for kids or elderly."
