Mystery EuroMillions jackpot winner has just days left to claim £58 million prize

A lottery jackpot winner has just days left to scoop their life-changing prize.

The buyer of a winning ticket in South Ayrshire has never come forward to claim their £58 million bounty.

And that means the Euromillions rollover – bought on March 17 – has still to be paid out.

Now the mystery winner has until Sunday before their cash haul is redistributed to charities.

A claim was made on the ticket back in April, which lotto bosses could not verify, leaving the way clear for the winner to come forward and enter Scotland’s rich list.

The winning numbers were 5, 7, 8, 16, 20, with the lucky stars 2 and 12.

Andy Carter, of the National Lottery, said: “We’re desperate to find this mystery holder and unite them with this massive prize.

“We’re urging everyone who might have bought a ticket in this area to check.”

It would not be the first time a ticket has gone unclaime – in 2012 a £65million EuroMillions jackpot bought in Hertfordshire was also given to good causes.

In 2018 alone, £125.1million went unclaimed across all lottery games.

Players are given 180 days to claim their winnings from the day of the draw.

Ayrshire couple Colin and Christine Weir famously scooped a monster £161 million on the EuroMillions back in 2011.

A Camelot spokesperson said: “The vast majority of prizes that start as unclaimed do get claimed before the deadline

“It is important to note that if a prize is never claimed, despite our best efforts, then we can only speculate as to the reason why.

“It is reasonable to assume that there have been cases where tickets have been lost, which is why we place an emphasis on playing online so that your ticket won’t be lost, but also that ticket-holders have been unaware.”
