Mystery closure of Glasgow's Nike store as Buchanan Street shop shut 24 hours for 'cleaning'

The Nike store on Buchanan Street has been mysteriously closed for 'cleaning' for 24 hours.

Glaswegians have been querying the surprise move, with no more information given other than a sign on the shop door reading: "this store is closed for cleaning and will open soon."

Glasgow Live have contacted both the store and Nike head office without response.

People have been reaching out to Nike on social media to ask about the closure, with one Glaswegian asking: "Any idea when the Glasgow store will re-open? We've got a parcel to pick up!".

When we visited the city centre store at noon today (Thursday), there was sign of activity within the store, suggesting the shop may re-open again soon.

Glasgow Live will update this story when comment has been given by Nike.

Meanwhile, as reported by the Evening Standard, the sportswear brand's London HQ has been shut down after a worker returned from an overseas area affected by coronavirus.
