Mystery closure of Chinese takeaway 'as per World Health Organisation health and safety'

A Chinese takeaway in Wales has suddenly closed its doors with a mysterious notice in the window.

Pensarn Fish and Chips in Marine Road, Pensarn, near Abergele, has advised customers it will remain shut until February 26, North Wales Live reports.

A notice has been placed in the window outlining the claimed reasons for its closure.

The note reads: "As per the World Health Organisation health and safety requirements, business will resume on February 26 instead of February 19.

"Sorry for the inconvenience."

A Public Health Wales spokesperson told North Wales Live: “Public Health Wales is not involved in the closure of any takeaway restaurant in North Wales.”

The closure comes after the government has urged anyone who has travelled from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau to stay indoors to self quarantine and call the NHS 111 phone service.

It's not known if this applies to anyone who works at the takeaway.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Chinese students at Ruthin School, St David's College, in Llandudno, and Rydal Penrhos, in Colwyn Bay, were encouraged not to travel home over the half term period.
