Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was the victim of a vicious blade attack in Ayr.
The incident took place at a residence in Campbell Court around 6.30pm last night.
The suspect attacked a 47-year-old man who was inside a property at the time.
He suffered a serious facial injury as a result of the assault.
The victim was taken to hospital and released following treatment.
Detective Constable Janet Ferguson from Ayr CID said: “The victim has suffered a nasty wound to his face however we know little about the suspect who entered the property.
“They are described as wearing a green jacket however we do not know their gender or any other physical description of them.
"We’d ask anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the Campbell Court area on Monday evening, or anyone with private CCTV which may have captured a person attending the area wearing such clothing, to provide relevant information and footage to officers as soon as possible.”
