Question: This lovely African mystery bird has relatives in Europe and North America. Can you name this species?

Response: This is an adult Northern White-crowned Shrike, Eurocephalus rueppelli. Shrikes are found throughout Africa and Eurasia, with two species occuring in North America and one species is even found on the island of New Guinea. This family does not occur in Australia nor in South America.
