Mystery bird: Carolina Wren, Thryothorus ludovicianus

Carolina Wren, Thryothorus ludovicianus, photographed in a backyard in Houston, Texas, USA.

Question: Here's another bird at that same backyard bird feeder ... what species is this?

Response: Carolina Wren, Thryothorus ludovicianus. The Carolina Wren can be distinguished from its close relative, the Bewick's wren, Thryomanes bewickii, by its larger size, its rich rufous coloured back and and head, reddish belly and shorter tail. The tail of Carolina wrens also lacks the characteristic white tip seen in Bewick's wrens.
