Mystery bird: blue-grey gnatcatcher, Polioptila caerulea

Blue-grey gnatcatcher, Polioptila caerulea, photographed at Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Image: Pete Moulton [velociraptorize].

This is a blue-grey gnatcatcher, Polioptila caerulea. This is the northernmost occurring gnatcatcher species, and the only one that is truly migratory. This species is expanding its range northward throughout the eastern portions of North America.

You are invited to review all of the daily mystery birds by going to their dedicated graphic index page.

If you have bird images, video or mp3 files that you'd like to share with a large and (mostly) appreciative audience, feel free to email them to me for consideration.
