The new preferred bidder for Prestwick Airport has the opportunity to maximise the site's huge potential, according to a former MSP.
Chic Brodie now the leader of 'real independence' party Scotia Future, says the Ayrshire flight hub can play a leading role on the world stage.
Mr Brodie, who will stand for election in Ayr this May, has welcomed yesterday's news that a new bidder has been lined up.

He added: "I am pleased to report significant progress has been made and I have agreed the selection of a preferred bidder.
"This allows the process to move to the next stage and potentially an early divestment of our shareholding."
Mr Brodie said: "Having sought the purchase by the government of the airport as an MSP and having been one of those interested in its development this hopefully is good news.
"Prestwick has huge potential as a worldwide centre for the maintenance repair and overhaul of aeroplanes and for the cargo and exporting capability it has.
"Hopefully we may now see progress of the space travel plans for the airport."
