Mystery as passerby appears to capture women sticking tinfoil to Edinburgh bus stop

If you think you've spotted a weird-looking spaceship on your way to work this morning, fear not.

It's actually just a metallic bus stop...that has been randomly covered in tinfoil - which is typically reserved for sandwiches.

In a clip sent to Edinburgh Live, it appears that two woman can be seen sticking sheets of tinfoil to the glass of a bus stop on Princes Street with sellotape.

The video was taken shortly before 7am this morning by passerby Jack Lane at the city centre bus stop, located across the road from the Debenhams store

Jack joked: "It appears Princess Street bus stops have been taken over by a bunch of aliens and have claimed their new home [sic]."

He has a point but, since they're probably not aliens, it currently remains a mystery as to why the pair were redecorating the bus stop with tinfoil in the early hours.

A Charlie Clark wrote on Twitter: "Some girls are putting tin foil over the 31 bus stop on princes st. East Craig’s bound. No idea why @on_lothianbuses @edinhelp."

Meanwhile, Em said: "I really need to know why there are people in town covering the bus stop in tin foil."

A Lothian Buses spokesperson said they were also unclear why the incident took place but have removed the tinfoil.
