Mystery as loud bangs heard on Lark Lane in early hours

Residents living in Lark Lane were startled awake by a series of loud bangs during the early hours of this morning.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police confirmed that the force had received a number of calls about the bangs, at around 12:40am on Monday.

Police said that no damage has been caused in the area.

Taking to social media last night, people questioned where the bang was coming from, with some suggesting it could be fireworks.

One man told the ECHO that he heard the bangs shortly after 11pm, which sounded like "a massive explosion."

Writing on Twitter, another man said: "Anyone know what them loud bangs are by Lark Lane?!?"

During an exchange on social media, one user said: "would also like to know" to which the man replied: "Random aren’t they? That one just then woke me up! Was another one about 2 hours ago?!? Weird!!"
