Mystery as Darius Danesh staying close to world renowned hospital before death as police investigation continues

Devastated fans of Darius Danesh have speculated that the world-renowned hospital he was staying close to may hold the key to his death.

The body of the 41-year-old entertainer was found on August 11 at his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota, near the Mayo Clinic’s 1,265-bed Saint Marys Campus.

No cause of death has yet been officially given as police continue an “open investigation”.

The speculation came as his former wife, Canadian actress Natasha Henstridge, 48, posted moving images of them together on Instagram in tribute.

She wrote: “I have found the paradox that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt – only more love – Mother Theresa.”

Natasha, who was married to the singer between 2011 and 2018, added: “There are no words Darius… only Love Love Love.”

Fans of the former Pop Idol singer have pointed out how the area is an obscure place for Darius to live.

His life had always been based on the west coast in California. He was pictured with fellow Scot Gerard Butler in Malibu on June 11.

The singer was staying at The Berkman apartments, billed as Rochester’s premier address for “elegant short-term and long-term furnished suites and residential living”. Most tenants who live in the block of flats work or are being treated at the clinic.

Fan Susan Shores, 44, said: “Darius was the warmest of souls. So kind and gentle.

“We don’t know what took him to Rochester, but other than the hospital, there is little there.”

Jeanette Richards wrote on Facebook : “Taken too soon. Worrying why he’d be staying so close to the Mayo Clinic. Hope he didn’t suffer.”

Meanwhile, Phones4U boss John Cauldwell, 69, revealed Darius had serenaded his housebound mum and sang at her memorial four months ago when she died aged 98.

John said: “It meant the world to me and the family to have Darius sing, a spine-tingling rendition of Hallelujah...

“in less than two months, Darius was due to perform at my own 70th birthday party. I cannot believe this vibrant young man is now gone.”

Rochester Police said they responded to a “deceased person call” at 11.53am on August 11.

A call was placed when a medical team was requested for a “possible deceased” person. Another call was allegedly made minutes later from an operator saying: “No need to respond.”

His family said police had “confirmed no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances.”

The Mayo Clinic is ranked among the top hospitals in the world and has treated prominent figures, including Muhammad Ali, Johnny Cash, and Ronald Reagan.

It is known for pioneering research into cancer, heart surgery, and face transplants.
