Mysterious sugar glider rescued from Rutherglen washing line is reunited with family

A sugar glider who made headline news after being rescued from a washing line four storeys up in Rutherglen has been reunited with its owner - and its furry family members too.

As reported on Glasgow Live, the exotic marsupial - native to Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea - was spotted by a member of the public and reported to the Scottish SPCA.

Animal rescue officers found the tiny creature clinging to a towel on the Rutherglen balcony and rushed it to the Lanarkshire rehoming centre, issuing an appeal for info on how it came to be there.

Today, the Scottish SPCA confirmed that the sugar glider - whose name is Malo - has been reunited with its family.

Gillian Boyle, manager of the Scottish SPCA Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, told Glasgow Live: “We were delighted to be able to reunite the owner with their sugar glider,” and shared a photo of Malo with furry family members Cuba and Chili.

It’s great news for anyone who took an interest in the unusual rescue, as many Glasgow Live readers did - we hope Malo is recovering after an adventure in the wilds of Rutherglen!
