Mysterious spray paint tags appear in Musselburgh as police attempt to uncover meaning

Mysterious spray paint tags have been left around Musselburgh, with police attempting to uncover the meaning behind the messages.

Tags reading 'BAKU' and 'KTR' have been appearing on disused buildings, walls, bins and bus shelters in recent days.

Officers have been left puzzled by the tagging, and are asking for the help of the public in establishing exactly what they mean.

East Lothian Police shared three images of the spray paint on social media in the hope somebody may recognise the messages.

They posted: "Over recent weeks it has come to police attention that the issue of 'tagging' has become very prevalent in the Musselburgh area. Disused buildings, walls of businesses, bus shelters, various street furniture including signage, bins and broadband exchange boxes are all being targeted.

"The main tags noted are "BAKU" and "KTR".

"Any information regarding who could be the culprit or indeed knowledge of what "BAKU" may stand for please contact PC Hughes Musselburgh Community Policing on non-emergency police contact number 101."
