Mysterious restaurant and takeaway plans given nod at vacant Kilwinning shop

Proposals to turn a former Ayrshire shop into a restaurant and takeaway have been given the green light by planning bosses.

A bid to change the use of a unit at Kilwinning's Station Plaza, just off Pennyburn Road, was approved with conditions by North Ayrshire Council planners last week.

Blueprints have been submitted on behalf of the applicant Mr Malcolm Albett of Rhiannon Properties Limited by the agent Colin McIntyre of Rhubarb Blue Limited.

None of the plans submitted give any indication of what type of takeaway or restaurant the premises will become.

The unit was most recently a shop and has been vacant since then.

Mr A Hume, a North Ayrshire Council case officer, concluded: "It is proposed to change the use of the 98 sq. m unit to enable its use for a restaurant with hot food takeaway facility or simply as a hot food takeaway.

"The application initially sought permission for what was described as a 'sui generis' use.

"Following discussion with the applicant, this was later corrected to Class 3 with hot food takeaway use since the term 'sui generis' was too vague and imprecise against which to base an assessment of the proposal."
