A mysterious red web has been discovered in woodland which has bewildered locals and sparked several theories.
A member of Northamptonshire Walks, a rambling group on Facebook set up by Dave and Tanya Askew, found the strange contraption while walking along the Bramtpon Valley Way in North Northamptonshire.
After discovering the web of red she took to social media to ask locals what it could be.
The confused walker called Ele told Northants Live : "I don't know what they are, but there are several theories.
"It looked like red twine wrapped around the trees, and there were silver baubles hanging on the trees too. There have been plenty of theories, some saying it was a tree or shrub.

"Lots of people have said that it is dangerous for wildlife, which it is and it should be taken down."
There were plenty of theories from locals, from mutant spiders to alien invasions, but locals are baffled.
Nicholas Barnes said: "Last year there were wool Christmas decorations near there, so maybe it's something to do with that?"
Local urban explorer David Purnell, aka, Purple, who runs the YouTube channel PurpleVision, has said that he went exploring there recently and also came across the strange web.
However, he thinks it represents something much more sinister.
"There are many of these along the route, they are pagan ritual sites," he said.
"I found it to the end and found a shrine of naughty images and pentagram symbols."
After reading this, many locals said they would "run away" if they came across it.
Others suggested that it was a plant called Bittersweet Nightshade, which is a toxic vine-like plant with berries which are poisonous to humans and livestock.
For now, however, it seems to be a spooky mystery.
