Mysterious Paranormal Cafe set to open in Nottingham

The prospect of a new food and drink haunt always gets people talking in Nottingham but mystery surrounds the latest set to descend on the city soon - in more ways than one.

A sign has gone up above a former shop in Goose Gate, Hockley, for the Paranormal Cafe.

It could simply be another coffee shop - or a hub for investigations into the unknown - but with nothing on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to go on, it's leaving food lovers guessing.

Plans for a kebab shop at the site were refused planning permission by councillors after objections by police, concerned another takeaway within the city's saturation zone could lead to late-night crime and violence.

But the cafe venture, with seating for more than 30 people over two floors, was given the green light.

A notice in the window says 'opening soon' but there's no indication of a firm date.

Food blogger Chris Durning joked on Twitter: "Derek Acorah's local hang out apparently."

The Gaztronome said: "It's just a cafe/coffee shop. Nothing too exciting."

Blogger A Foodie in Bootcut Jeans wasn't impressed by the signage. "It could be offensive to be seen as offensive to dyslexics," he posted, as the Rs are back to front.
