A mysterious message left on a car window led to passersby calling police for help.
The words 'help me' were written on car window which was parked down a residential Woolton street.
The unusual message, was flagged in a post shared to a community Facebook group, where a woman shared details of what she had noticed.
The woman who was passing through the area said: “I’m on my way to A and E so can’t check - just seen ‘help me’ scrawled on the inside of a window on Woolton Street, between Tesco and the Derby Arms… could anyone check this out maybe if you’re close by?”
The Facebook post saw a flurry of comments by concerned social media users.
One person said: “Can you phone the police with details?”
Another said: “Could you call 999 please x”
A third said: “I’ve contacted the police!! No idea if OP has or not so better safe than sorry.”

Another Facebook user decided to tag the Merseyside Police Facebook Page in anticipation of a response.
Merseyside Police confirmed a person reported the incident on Sunday, March 14.
A spokesperson said: “A person made a report to our social media desk at 3.40pm yesterday (Sunday) afternoon notifying us they had seen the sign.”
Comments and replies to the original post continued throughout the day as locals tried to get to the bottom of the incident.
It was soon revealed however that the ‘help me’ message was a joke played by builders carrying out work at a house in the street.
One person replied: “This is my neighbour and they are currently having building work done and it’s the lads idea of a joke.”
Another said: “Police have been informed of what is going on and asked to be removed.”
A third said: “Thank you for checking. I had a feeling it was a stupid joke but couldn’t stop to check it out.”
One user who wasn’t happy with the practical joke, commented: “Not funny if there is definitely someone in distress needing help.”
The spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed the message was intended in jest, adding: “It looks like somebody had put it there as a joke.”
