Mysterious Glasgow billboard adds to speculation Adele set to release long-awaited new album

A mysterious billboard has appeared in Glasgow - and people are speculating that it might be announcing Adele's new album.

The huge '30' ad was spotted by a member of the public on Union Street in the city centre above Glasgow Central Station with the snap subsequently shared on fan Twitter page Adele Global.

It's one of countless that have appeared across the world in the past few days, many of which were projected onto iconic buildings and structures such as the Coliseum, Brooklyn Bridge and the Eiffel Tower.

It's been reported widely online that the ads and projections have been done by Adele’s label Sony Music as a 'strategy announcement' for her upcoming fourth album, although no official word has come from the singer just yet.

The new album would mark Adele's first since 2015’s 25, which sold over 18m copies within 12 months and has gone on to sell over 22 million copies worldwide - making it the fourth-best selling album of the 21st century.

Speculation that the 33-year-old would be releasing a new record has been rife for a while, with Rolling Stone reporting on rumours that the singer could be about to drop new music this weekend. That however hasn't materialised at the time of writing.
