Myles Garrett highly critical of his own game film

Film study is a vital piece of training for any pro athlete. The ability to critically study oneself and apply the lessons to the playing field is what helps separate the great from the good.

Myles Garrett wants to be great. He’s set his goals on being the best defensive player in the NFL, and the Browns Pro Bowl defensive end is hitting the film hard in order to make that happen.

In a thoughtful interview with Zac Jackson of The Athletic, Garrett wasn’t shy about how hard he is on himself when he watches his game film.

Jackson asked Garrett if he was critical of himself when he watches his own game film.

I’m critical during the play, and when I watch it again, I’m like, I don’t want to watch it. I’m like, ‘Gosh I know I messed up on this play.’ I have to get over that hump, so you know, push through and figure out, what can you do better? Can you jump a little bit further, can you read this quicker? You know, small things that lead to big things.

It’s great to hear Garrett longing to get better and studying ways he can become even more dominant in his third NFL season.
