Myleene Klass reveals she ‘lost five hours of her life’ in 'complicated' birth as she shares first photo of baby Apollo

Myleene Klass has described the birth of her baby son Apollo as “complicated,” revealing that she “lost five hours of her life” during labour.

The 41-year-old welcomed her third child, her first with partner Simon Motson, earlier this month and announced the news with a close-up picture of the newborn’s hand.

The former Hear’Say singer said that the birth was “really easy” to start off but became more difficult three hours in.

“My waters broke and I was in the birthing pool,” she told Hello! magazine. “We had a really easy first three hours, to the point that I thought we would all be home by 7pm.

“But I don’t remember what happened next. I lost five hours of my life and it was a pretty complicated birth in the end.”

The Classic FM presenter shared the first photos of her son with Hello! and revealed the inspiration behind her son’s unusual name.

“Apollo is the god of music and science - my two passions,” she told the magazine. “We thought it was such a strong name and at 8lbs 5oz, he was a strong, bouncing boy.”

Klass, who is also mother to 12-year-old Ava and eight-year-old Hero with ex-husband Graham Quinn, said that having a baby in her 40s is “an extremely different experience” but she is “loving every minute of it.”

“I love the night feeds - it’s a privilege to look at his little face during the night,” she added. “I know how quickly this will go.”

The musician said that she and Motson, who has a son and a daughter from a previous marriage, have “worked really hard” at “blending” their families.

“It’s not something that’s easy - you’ve got to really work at it - but when it works, it’s an incredible feeling,” she said.
