Etiquette dramas, as Myleene Klass opts to mobilise her 450,000-plus Twitter following against social transgressions by fellow mothers in her daughter’s class.
The facts, as presented to us by Myleene, are these: one of the mothers sent a round-robin email to the others, saying that she’d had a word with two mothers who were hosting a birthday party, and established that their daughters would like a joint present from the class this year. To wit, a Kindle and a desk. The mother said anyone who wanted to join in could contribute £10, but to feel free to give what they liked or do their own present. I know, I know. Ghastly.
But undoubtedly grim as such requests are, what are we to make of someone who uses their somewhat advantageous social media platform to make the whole lot public, then self-admiringly posts her own brilliant and hilarious reply? Is that the lesson in charm and fairness Myleene perceives it to be?
