Mykhailo Mudryk appeals to CAS after Chelsea winger ‘banned for four years’

  • Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against a reported four-year ban for a breach of anti-doping rules.
  • Mudryk was charged by the Football Association in June last year and has been provisionally suspended since December 2024, with CAS confirming they have received his appeal.
  • Although CAS did not specify the sanction, it has been widely reported that the appeal is against a four-year ban, which aligns with FA regulations for certain anti-doping violations.
  • Mudryk previously stated that the positive sample, returned after his international duty with Ukraine in November 2024, was a 'complete shock' and that he had 'not done anything wrong', with Chelsea adding he 'never knowingly used any banned substances'.
  • The Football Association and Chelsea have declined to comment on the ongoing case, and a hearing date for the appeal is yet to be scheduled by CAS.
