Three Myanmar nationals were arrested on Wednesday for forcing a six-year-old boy to sell goods around Bangkok and beating and starving him when he failed to meet sales targets.
The child was rescued with a broken arm before police from the Children and Women Protection Division arrested two women and a man at a residence in Suan Luang district, Bangkok Police Chief Pol Lt Gen Sayam Boonsom said.
At the residence, police also rescued five other children.
According to police, the suspects allegedly exploited the minors by forcing them to sell flowers and candy at restaurants and service venues across the capital from 3pm to 3am daily.
If the children failed to meet their sales targets, the suspects would beat and starve them.
Police added that the victims were allegedly from ethnic minority groups in Myanmar.
