Mya-Lecia Naylor: Game of Thrones and CBBC stars mourn 'heartbreaking loss'

Tributes continue to pour in following the death of teenage CBBC star Mya-Lecia Naylor, who has been described as "deeply talented".

After I'm A Celebrity star Emily Atack hailed the 16-year-old as a "beautiful girl', there have been a number of condolences shared by Mya-Lecia's CBBC co-stars and those touched by the loss of the young actress.

Game Of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei, said she was "very sad to hear the tragic news", adding they were both managed by the same company.

She said: "Although I did not know her personally, I wanted to send my condolences to her family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time."

Mya-Lecia was described as "deeply talented" by A&J Management, with historian Greg Jenner saying the news was "terribly sad".

BBC TV presenter Tee Cee also paid tribute, sharing on social media: "Deeply saddened by the passing of CBBC actress Mya-Lecia Naylor - although just 16, what a legacy she's left for CBBC fans all over the UK who watched and loved the TV shows she starred in. Rest in peace sweets."

One of Mya-Lecia's Millie Inbetween co-stars, Rhianna Meralls, described her shock at the tragic news, saying that cast of the CBBC show is "heartbroken".

Rhianna wrote on Twitter : "Rest in peace Mya-Lecia Naylor. The Millie Inbetween cast is like a family to me and the show has such a special place in my heart. Mya was a great friend and I'm so lucky to have known her. We are heartbroken. Thank you for all the messages & I'm sending love to Mya’s family."

Paul Rose was a scriptwriter on Almost Never and described Naylor's death as a "huge loss".

He said: "Found out the heartbreaking news last week that Mya-Lecia Naylor has died.

"I'd been writing scripts for S2 of Almost Never since last year, all featuring Mya's character. Far too young, and a huge loss for all on the show. My heart goes out to her family."

Alice Webb, director of BBC Children's which includes CBBC, said news of Naylor's death had left her team "distraught and so terribly sad".

She said: "She has shone so brightly on our screens, both in Millie Inbetween and Almost Never, and it's unthinkable that she won't be part of our journey going forward.

"She was hugely popular with our audience, a very talented actress, dancer and singer, and a real role model for her young fans."

CBBC released a statement after the sad news emerged.

They said: "We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from Millie Inbetween and Almost Never has, very sadly, died. Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children’s family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer.

"We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends. If you would like to share a memory of Mya-Lecia, you can post a comment below."

They added: "We know this news is very upsetting, and it may help to share how you are feeling with friends or a trusted adult. If you are struggling and there is no one you feel you can talk to about it, you can call Childline on 0800 11 11."

No cause of death has been revealed.
